Terms of Use

These terms apply whenever you use Enfield Residents Directory. By continuing to use the pages, you accept them. If you disagree, do not use the service.

1. The Nature of This Reference

Enfield Residents Directory is privately operated. It describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, and historical collections that may show who lives or once lived in Enfield, Connecticut. Government records are not hosted here, and the service has no affiliation with the Town of Enfield, Hartford County courts, Connecticut agencies, libraries, or other custodians.

2. Acceptable Use

Use these pages only for lawful, personal, historical, or civic research. You may not use the pages or anything reached through them to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm any person
  • Locate someone protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft or fraud
  • Make FCRA-regulated decisions (credit, employment, tenant, insurance)
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the site's content at scale
  • Interfere with the site's operation or security

3. No Consumer Reporting Service

This service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Neither the pages nor a result returned by a linked search tool is a consumer report. Nothing may be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose governed by the FCRA.

4. Third-Party Links

Government portals, library databases, archives, and sponsored search tools operate under their own terms and policies. Enfield Residents Directory does not control their content, availability, fees, or handling of data.

5. No Warranty

The pages are supplied “as is” and “as available,” without warranties. No promise is made that the information is complete, accurate, or current, or that a linked portal will remain online or produce a correct result.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of these pages or an outside resource. That includes an action taken from a record found through a link.

7. Indemnity

You agree to defend and hold the site operators harmless from a claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, that results from your misuse of the service or breach of these terms.

8. Site Content

The original writing, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. A link to a page and a short attributed quotation are welcome. Republishing a full page or copying the material systematically is not permitted.

9. Updates

A revised version may be posted on this page. Use after an update means you accept the revised terms.

10. Access Restrictions

Access may be blocked or limited for a user who violates these terms or abuses the service. The operators may do so at their discretion and without advance notice.

11. Governing Law

Connecticut law governs these terms without regard to conflict-of-law principles. When public-record access is discussed, the relevant state statute is the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act, CGS §§1-200 through 1-242. Connecticut’s consumer-privacy statute is the Data Privacy Act, CGS §§42-515 through 42-526, where it applies to a covered controller.

12. Severability

If a court finds one provision unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.
